Printer tracks price-performance ratio

The Ekra E4 in-line stencil printer is a low-cost version of the high-end E5, and has a good price-performance ratio. It features programmable conveyor and stencil wiper, vision alignment system EVA and a pneumatically controlled print head. The EVA system uses two CCD cameras on a precise XY-gantry with glass-scale reading, for the alignment of the PCB in regard to the fixed stencil (resolution of ±1µm within a field of view of 10 x 8mm that can be moved across the entire PCB). The printer is specified with a high accuracy of ±25µm and a repeatability of ±12.5µm (at 4-sigma). The stencil wiper commences wet and dry cleaning actions in programmable steps. The printer occupies a footprint of 975 x 1200mm only, and supports Siemens and SMEMA interfaces. It accepts stencil frames from 406 x 406mm up to 737 x 737mm without any additional adaptation, whereby the PCB size can vary from 80 x 50 mm up to 355 x 355mm. This allows product changeovers to be realized within 3min. The squeegee speed is programmableat up to 240mm/s, and the pressure up to 320N. With the2 1/2D inspection system and the Crossflow closed print head technology, there are two options that will optimize performance even further. The 2 1/2D system monitors printing, stencil underside and eventually the formation of paste bridges.
