A very short tact time of 3s, very high flexibility and ease-of-use are the characteristics of the screen printer Ekra Microtronic 8-DT. Its application is targeted at ceramic substrates (for hybrid manufacturing) wafers, PCBs and solar panels. The printer can be easily adapted to a wide range of different formats and sizes of substrates. A vision system with its highly precise XY gantry (61 micron), featuring glass-scale reading and closed-loop control, is standard. The machine has two independent print tables that can be alternately loaded and unloaded to drastically reduce handling and imaging time. Therefore, cycle time is extremely short. With a squeege stroke time of 1s and a positioning based on 2 fiducials, the printer achieves a 3s-tact. This is equivalent to 1200 complete print cycles hourly. The alignment system has a freely programmable camera over the entire printing area. The positions of the index markings can be provided both by the input of the XY values or by a teach-in procedure. Screen frames with the dimensions of 600 x 600mm can be used, whereas the maximum print area is 203 x 305mm. Substrates can have a thickness of 4mm. The repeatability is 612.5 micron (at 6-sigma).
