The Dow Corning 1900 series, a family of three silicon-based conformal coatings formulated to deliver superior performance, PCB protection, cost-of-use advantages and compliance with most international regulatory standards to enable consistent material supply worldwide. The coatings offer the performance features required to protect ever-smaller components. In contrast to organic materials, such as acrylic and urethane, which cure to a rigid protective coating, these silicon-based formulations offer flexible, low-stress protection for fine-pitch leads and delicate components, improving reliability of ICs and boardsalike. All three coatings are self-priming materials using non-corrosive moisture/condensation cures. They can be cured at room temperature or accelerated by heat, forming transparent elastomers with excellent electrical properties over a wide temperature range (-55 to 200°C). The one-part formulations come ready to apply in many process conditions, including selected no-clean flux residues. With no solvents, these 100% solid formulations are not restricted from use by the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), European Inventory or Existing Commercial Chemical Substances (EINECS), or the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The regulatory compliance provided by this material ensures that customers can use the same conformal coatings in almost all countries. www.dowcorning.com/electronics
