Three thermally conductive high- performance acrylic tapes from 3M – 9882, 9885 and 9890 – provide a reliable and user-friendly thermal interface due to their content of highly conductive ceramic particles. They are designed for the bonding of heat-generating and heat-sinking components. Type 9882 is meant for the mounting of flexible heat foils and temperature-indicating films and also for flex circuits with heat sinks. Type 9885 is used for thermoelectric cooling modules and also for flex circuits. Type 9890 is usable for bonding heat sinks to microprocessors and of TAB-mounted devices to PCBs. Without a carrier material, the tapes do away with several interfaces – pure adhesive film construction provides optimum gap filling. The tapes are available in 2, 5 and 10-mil thickness. They bond with light pressure and offer immediate tack. Bond strength increases further over time and by exposure to elevated temperatures. The tapes can be die-cut and pre-applied for later bonding. The tapes offer high dielectric strength for electrical isolation; they are UL-listedfor high-temperature adhesion and dielectric strength. ws
