The automated Opti-Flux series II spray fluxing system by Ultrasonic guarantees a deposition variance of less than ±1% because it is servo-driven. It is self-adapting and programmable to meet process parameters such as board width (25.4 to 508mm, optional 609.6mm), conveyor speed, etc. By depositing the optimum amount of flux, it also improves the no-clean process because it reduces the flux residue and overall usage. A vibrating titanium sheet at ultrasonic velocities instead of a nozzle generates the spray. This achieves very small drops of flux and a veryuniform rectilinear spray pattern to ensure through-hole penetration. The servo-drive traversing mechanism precisely controls the speed (76.2 to 381mm/s) synchronized with the conveyor speed for non-overlapping coats, and so enables selective flux application. Operator input is limited to keying in the required deposition and flux properties. The machine then sets the traversing speed and the flux flow rate for maximum penetration. Application of a wide variety of flux types, including no-clean, RMA, etc. is possible.
